This online program begins each fall and grants licensed teachers the opportunity to increase their expertise in literacy instruction and provides new and exciting resources for implementation in their school. Candidates will earn a Reading Teacher endorsement on their current teaching licensure (early childhood, elementary, secondary) and receive ongoing support from experienced literacy educators.
Upon completion of the Reading Teacher endorsement (8 courses) candidates will have the option to complete an additional 2 courses to receive a Master's degree in Education.
A person may apply for the State of Illinois Reading Teacher endorsement upon satisfactory completion of the prescribed curriculum while maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 out of 4.0.
In addition to 24 hours of coursework, candidates for the Reading Teacher endorsement must:
