Graduate Admissions

Admission to School of Education graduate programs is open to those who hold a bachelor’s degree with an appropriate general education component from an accredited college or university. Interested candidates should complete the online School of Education application as well as fulfilling the general requirements listed.

Undergraduate Admission

The first step for moving forward in the Teacher Education Program (TEP) is to submit your completed Teacher Education Program application by following the steps below.

  1. Click here to set up a licensure account at the Illinois State Board of Education website to obtain an Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN).
  2. Obtain a copy of the test page from your licensure account; this must show that you have passed the TAP or that your ACT or SAT was accepted by ISBE.  Click here for instructions on how to submit your ACT scores in lieu of the TAP.  Please be sure this is complete before you complete the application.
  3. Complete your Declaration of Major Form and submit it to the RCAS Advising Office in the Lewis Link.
  4. Click her to obtain information and forms for the Fingerprint and Background Checks.
  5. Click here to complete the Teacher Education Program Online Application.  When you are finished with the application, a copy will be sent to your email for your records.

The following criteria must be met for acceptance into the Teacher Education Program:

  • Grade of C or higher in EDUC or ECED 200/220 (or equivalent course)
  • Receive a score of at least 22 on the ACT plus writing or a composite score of 1030 on the SAT critical reading and mathematics or pass the Illinois Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP).
  • Overall grade point average of 2.75. (NOTE: Candidates with overall GPAs below 2.75 but above 2.5 may be conditionally accepted.)
  • Be free of a felony sex or drug conviction.
  • Complete and pass the FBI and State of Illinois Fingerprint and Background Check process.
